Default RE: advice on cold start

From your symptoms it sounds as though your cold start device (extra injector like device) is operating when the engine is warm and thus giving you too much enrichment which you are addressing with wide open throttle. (More air, reduces mixture strength)

The cold start device is engine coolant temp operated.

Maybe the temp sensor for the cold start device is bad.

The cold start device has a connector on it. Does the car start more easily with this connector disconnected when the engine is hot and less easily when the engine is cold?

Not sure EXACTLY where your cold start device and associated temperature sensor are located on your car.
