Adding Bluetooth On 2007 CLK 350
Hello Everyone,
I have a low mileage, 93,000 miles, 2007 CLK 350. Going to remove the CD changer in glove box and replace it with a bluetooth device. Does anyone know what type of connection is used for the the changer? RCA, or other type of connection? I did have a 2009 CLK 350 that had an auxiliary jack on the right side of the glovebox, but that car got totaled through no fault of my own. I asked the dealer and a reputable auto stereo store and neither had the answer. It is the original factory installed changer. I would replace the factory head unit in the dash to have bluetooth, but because the connections from the head unit to the amplifier (supplies sound to 9 factory speakers) uses fiber optics connections, I would also have to replace that amp to the tune of about $1,200 for something decent. The factory head unit and speakers are the Harmon Kardon version. I have used a bluetooth lighter type plug in transmitter (ok sound) but when traveling more than about 45 minutes out of my area, the transmitter’s FM station has to be changed about every hour. Not fun. Anybody know how the CD changer connects to the amp or head unit? Thanks! Jim
