Default ac

I have a 92 300sd (140 style) with an a/c problem. The compressor will not kick on for the first 15 or 20 minutes in the morning, then blows ice cold the rest of the day. Any suggestions? Also, the outdoor temperature guage will read 66 degrees one minute, then the actual temp of 92 the next minute. Is this related to the climate control system?
Thanks

temperature related problem?

check the freon, maybe it's not enough. the pressure increases when the temperature does. one of the reason why it works when warm.

check the pressure switch and/or temperature sensor for ac.

check and replace the evaporator temperature sensor.

Sleepwarker gives good advice.
The outside temp. gauge takes a few minutes to actually give the correct temp. if things are working properly. If it changes readings drastically while driving there may be problem. (Usually the sensor.)

Thanks for the help. I'll try to locate a temperature sensor for the a/c. Id this the one that also operates the outdoor temp reading?

no, it is attached to the filter/drier/expansion tank or whatever you call it.

your outside temperature sensor can be seen on the front left side of the bumper, on that grill on lower part. looks like a stick of saratoga... only shorter.
