Default 99 ML430 A/C drier service

The interior is smelling a bit like dead leaves while running. I'd like to FIND and CLEAN OUT the AC Drier area. THANX!

Sure you haven't got a water leak somewhere under the carpets?

Mercedes A/C units are fitted with pollen and activated charcoal (small filters). When were these last changed?

Not familiar with ML but will no doubt be the same as for all other MB's.
These filters are located in the A/C unit housing which is located behind the passenget fascia area. You access the filters from the footwell by removing the plastic horizontal closing panel above the footwell area.

Removing the A/C to "clean" the evaporator unit is a mega job.

This filter you mention has (probably) never been replaced. How do I access it, for R&R? THX!!

Nope. The stinky filter was NOT this one.

make sure that the moisture is draining outside.
if it accumulates inside the evaporator housing, odor can be formed.

the fresh air inlet is on the foot of windshield from outside. see if water, dirt accumulates there.

later i am going to invent the coffee scent activted filter. that would be good to remove odor as they say.

Where should I look (outside) to see if it is draining correctly?
