'95 e320 wagon dead...nothing works
Helllo,
I have been reading this site for a long time, tons of really usefull information.
Maybe someone can help me out with my problem.
Went to start my 95 E320 yesterday afternoon and ASR light came on.
Turned car off and went to restart, heard small pop and everything went dead.
No insturment lights, no interior lights, no seats, no horn, no head or parking lights.
I checked the overload relay and the fuse is good.
Any thoughts before it gets towed to Goldens Bridge?
Thanks in advance.
JD

Checck the battery. try jumpstarting from another good battery. a battery test would be great if dont have 1 remove batery and most auto shops will test for free . if battery ok . check all the ceramic fuses under hood left side by brake booster make sure use a test light these use will sometime looks good but have a hairline crack and not conduct full power also run your finger through the middle across the metal strip if in doubt replace! once car is started use a volt meter pos. on pos. batt. terminal and neg.(black) lead on neg. post batt. engine running should read min.13.2v if under 12,7 the voltage regulator on alternator is bad but its replaceable seperatly . remove neg. cable batt. with small phillips head screwdriver remove 2 screws at rear alternator pull regulator out the carbon brushes (rubbing blocks) should be springy and the carbon brushes some what square. and abount 1/2 inch long at least

Thanks for the information.
You were right it was a dead battery.
My mechanic jumped it in the garage and brought it down to his shop and re-charged it.
So far its been good, its charging and started the car several times in 5 degree weather with no problems.
Thanks again.
