I bought a used 94 C280 with 93,000 miles. The speedometer doesn't work part of the time (always when you first leave in the morning, than 10 minutes in, it starts to work) & tonight none of the instrument will work, that is the temp, gas, tach & speedo. The outside temp and odometer and clock still function and the lights, but other than that it seems dead. Could this be a loose connection or is it common for the whole cluster to die? Thanks in advance.

 

it's the cluster's circuit board nearing it's end.

 

I've replaced the batteries on several BMW's circuit boards that I have owned, is it a similar repair or is replacing the entire cluster the only fix. Thanks

 

I have a 1997 c230 also it does the same thing. The gauges just don't work sometimes.
I just bought it. I am wondering if I should have. It also is intermittently idling extremely rough. Sometimes it runs perfect for a few days then all the sudden it idles really rough
