92 300sd front suspension
I have a clunking noise in the right front of my MB. I have found a bad rubber bushing on the lower end of the front stabilizer link. The MB service manual refers to this as a connecting rod. I am pretty sure it is also referred to as the stabilizer link. Can the bushing where it connects to the front torshen bar be replaced, or do you need to replace the entire link? How hard is this? Looks like one nut at the bottom. Can't see the top. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

your car is 126 model?
you mean this part?
you need to remove the battery, battery support and the bulkhead.

My car is 140 body. The part is straight with bushing on each end. The MB service book calls it a connecting rod which goes from the sterring knuckle to the torsion bar. Either way, the lower bushing is shot.
Thanks

yes, they sometime call the stabilizer link with that name. it's just the same thing.
you will hear the low knocking noise from it when driving slow on rough road. the best way is to disconnect the part that is attached to the stabilizer, secure it on the shock absorber with anything, and test drive.
also if you feel a slight movement from that ball joint part... it is enough to make the knocking noise. on some car, it even go faulty at 2k km.
very easy to replace. only two nuts, but might use an allen (6) key to counterhold it.
