Default '89 190E Front Brake Squeel

Hello, My 1989 190E 2.6 squeels like the Banshee of Ireland.... I have replaced the front rotors with new "German made" rotors ( I was thinking Bosch,.. but maybe some other German vendor ? ), I DID NOT replace the pads with Mercedes brand pads, but used NAPA brand which they only offered one brand and NAPA is usually known for the closest match on vehicle replacement parts ?
Anyway,.. I've also put on gobs of the anti-squeel lube to the back of the pad that gets pushed by the caliper cylinder and it is just so embarrassing to drive around other people ?? What should I do ? Thanks for all of your help and support here,
Padge

Does it only squeal when you apply the brakes?

Yes..... only when applying the brakes... can almost play a tune on it with the amount of pressure applied... sometimes it's quiet until brakes are applied in a turn, then the decibles go out the window !! Seems too that it's mostly the right front passenger side that makes most of the noise ?

Are you sure it's the front brakes, not the rear?

pads not worn out?

some of them got those things that can touch the rotor when pads are worn out and make some audible noise to remind you.

If I was in court, I couldn't swear to it that it's totally the front, but it's so loud when it happens that it is hard to tell but I've had my daughter drive by me and that's where I think I hear it from ? Also, I have just installed the new pads about a month ago... plenty of pad on them... Someone once told me that if you don't use MB pads that there will always be squeel ?? Do you believe that ?

Get new Pads.

Cheap aftermarket pads will squeel like a pig during sex.
Well ok.... maybe not THAT bad ... but pretty damn close.

On client's cars I always use dealer pads and I never have the squeel problem. ANY time and I do mean ANY time that I've used aftermarket pads they always come back complaining about the squeel.

The only thing bad about dealer pads is that they throw out heaps of brake dust. Oh well ..... I'd rather have the dust than the squeel any day.

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
TJ

Actually you may be pleasantly surprised.

Sometimes the dealer's prices actually beat the aftermarket prices.

This goes for a lot of parts. I always check with the dealer first, then check outside and make the decision (not on brake pads though-dealer only for me & clients). Sometimes it's only a little more at the dealer, which in that case I go with the dealer.

Some parts at the dealer are insanely overpriced though .... so you really need to do your homework.

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
TJ
