78 300cd is choking on hills
I know this has probably bean discussed here before but to save time sifting through old post I am just gona ask.
I have a 1978 300cd naturally aspirated. I just got the car a few weeks ago and it had bean siting for a couple years when I bought it. When I test drove it it ran great but upon driving it home on the interstate I started loosing power. I could put the peddle to the floor and get nothing. I assumed it was a clogged filter or junk in the old fuel so I drained the tank, took it out, cleaned it out, blew out both lines and the breather line and replaced the fuel filter. Now that everything I back together I am still having the same issues. It will idle ones you play with it a bit but once I get going down the road especially up hill the engine starts acting like it is starved of fuel or something and shuts off. It is then hard to get started again.
Has any one had this problem before and what suggestions do you have??
Thanks in advance
