560 SL Rear Emblem Placement
Hi All,
I am new to this post like many at one time or another. I am currently looking into buying my second Mercedes, First one was a 59 but sold it many years ago. I'm in the market for a 560 SL Roadster. I have identified the difference between the euro headlights and US ones, but there still is something that is puzzling me. I have seen the majority of 560 SL models with the emblem mounted on the drivers side of the rear trunk lid, and some with the emblem mounted on the passenger side of the trunk lid. Can anyone help? Thanks for taking the time to unpuzzle my brain. This might just be a matter of a body shop replacing the trunk lids, and not knowing which side it goes on. But still I won't get much sleep until I find out.

RE: 560 SL Rear Emblem Placement
There's been a rumor that MB (dealership) body shops place the emblem on the passenger side if they've done any repair/repaint work that included the trunk. Sort of like a signature, or calling card. Can't verify this, though, and only ever heard it once.
