My E-320 4-Matic wagon feels as if there is a tightness accompanied by a low rumble when I do a tight slow speed turning..i.e. pulling into a parking space. My mechanic says all the cv's are fine and that it could be the final drive fluid in the transfer case not letting the clutch discs slip properly. Any feedback. This car has 54K on it and rolls real well otherwise.

 

could be a transfer case noise. are there any leaks at the transfer case. you could try a fluid change and that could help you. i would go that route first before spendind any $
