Default 300E Window

MY 1992 300E left front electric window will not operate .It is in the up position. The problem seems tp be the motor but I cannot remove it as the manual says the window must be down so that the REGULATOR WINDOW GLASS GUIDE NUT IS ACCESSIBLE so that regulator can be removed from the window guide rail. How can I lower the window when the
electric motor will not work?.Any suggestions would be most welcome

just remove the motor (3 screws) or the window regulator (3 rivets or screws) so you can lower it down.

Thanks for the reply,I only wish it were that simple. The motor screws are inaccessible,I have the scratches on my arms to prove it>.After gettting the correct tool(spline type screwdriver bit,I forget the correct term for it),I battled for an hour or so to remove the motor(appears to have only two retaining screws),I finally managed to remove the upper one, however the bottom or underneath screw is impossible to acess with the window in the up position.
The regulator mechanism is held in place by four nuts which are on the outside of the door frame and are thus very easy to remove. However they are fitted to studs which are part of the regulator mechanism. These studs protrude thru the door from the inside and cannot be pushed back thru the door(when the nuts are removed) to release the regulator mechanism as the mechanism in the raised position is just too rigid to allow this.So now I am stuck.Any ideas?

if the window regulator cable is broken and you need to replace it anyway... just cut it.

you said the MOTOR is the problem?

try putting direct voltage (12v) on those two big wires going to it if it works. reverse the polarity for another direction.

Thanks for the advice.I finally managed by brute force (large mallet and piece of wood) to knock the regulator bolts back thru the door and thus the regulator mechanism was lowered and removed.after stripping and cleaning and relubricating the window works.By the way the mechanism does not have a cable.
