300E 124 Series----Fuel smell in car
Good Day All
Despite a very careful check of fuel tank orifices both from under the car and from the trunk, (with the fuel tank fully exposed) and no signs of any leakages, we cannot fully get rid of gasoline smells in the trunk (and lightly in the car on occasions).
We have ruled out overfilling.
When the filler cap is removed we always get a puff of tank pressure being released--particularly in hot weather---is this normal?
Is there any other more subtle cause of unwanted vapour smells in these cars? The engine bay never smells of fuel. I'm wondering about things like blocked or kinked vent pipes somewhere that Isimply cannot locate properly.
Any guidance or helpful procedure to help trace possible sources of this annoyance will be very much appreciated.
Many thanks and Season's best wishes
