Default 2006 ml350 fluid leaks: oil and maybe Steering

There are signs of fluid leaks on my benz on the left n right top front of the engine. They leak at look like at the 2 identical sensors. Very wet. Wonder where the leaks come from. The pics aren't clear but hope it gives general idea of what I meant

Those are the cam adjusters... they do have orings on them that do leak. ..also check with a dealership.. there is a recall for the cam adjusters harnesses ..they will install an inline harness on each adjuster.. the adjusters tend to leak oil internally..

Hello

Thanks for the respond. Is it also related to the issue of the known problem with ML350's balance shaft gears?

i have checked and found no recall for this issue. Should I go ahead and reinstall the same adjusters with new sensor safe sealant or better yet install new ones?

the cam adjusters are know to go bad. when you remove them, if you shake them you should hear them rattle inside, when they go bad, they will not rattle. i think they get sludged up with oil. the harness recall is supposed to stop the adjusters from taking in oil. you can replace the cam adjuster if you want to. but if its not broken don't fix it.

The left top sensor was removed and replaced with sealant sensor safe

bottom left sensor: oil leaks through the connector which I will replace a new

right top and right bottom: have't figured how to take them out yet but I will buy 2 new onesto replace them both.

Hello
GOod news, they will replace these cam adjusters for free. I am not sure if they do the replacement or changing the o rings or just use silicons. Will have to see. They said this is an open recall even though I never received any letters of the recall. I guess if i do not call in, I will not receive free service for these adjusters.
