2004 C240 shifts in gears but dont move

[:@]Ok I have a 2004 C240 with exactly 46000 miles. Today when I hit 46000miles I was a stop light in Drive and the car wouldnt move. I shifted to Reverse and the shifter worked however the car wouldnt go into gear. I put it in drive again but it was as if the car was stuck in neutral. I towed it home and later It went into gear and drove 300ft and I put it in park and back in drive and I had the same prob. My Service B light has been on for a few months and since this incident today my check engine light came on. Any advice would be very much appreciated.
