2003 sl500 top question

2003 sl500 top question
Hello all,
I am looking at a used 2003 sl500 with 87k miles. The top will open but only go halfway down and then stop. The current owner said it needed to be taken to the MB dealer and reprogrammed. Is that such a thing? Any help advice would be appreciated.
