My car has 61,000 miles on it. I was just told that the "timing chain jumped and the engine head is conjested". The repair bill will be $4900. Has anyone heard of this happening to a car with such low milage? The car is (was) in excellent condition and always had scheduled tune ups and oil changes. I don't even know if it's worth fixing......any thoughts or suggestions?

 

Before I traded mine in for the M320 CDI it had 106,000; mine was paid off. They are worth about 10 grand if it's in excellent condition. Have you been racing it, or putting anything but premuim fuel in it? They do last more than 61,000, it worth every penny to keep her healthy I averaged about 100 miles per day @ 33mpg. I really miss that great MPG. Remember MB doesn't manufacture 4cy Kompressors any longer. Word to the wise repair it.
