2002 CLK500 engine just died
Hi all. Am new to this forum. Just recently purchased a 2002 CLK500. Was driving at 60km/h down a main road when all of a sudden the car engine just died. No warning, no spluttering, no warning lights were on. Almost crashed as no power steering and limited brakes. Car could not start again, yet dash lights are on and starter motor is turning.
After recovering from this mess, and waiting for a tow truck, I decided to start the car, and, guess what, it started.Yet this time there is theengine warning light visible. I drove about 100 metres and it stopped again. 3 hours later I got home via a truck...
Today, it started again, and no warning light. Went for a small drive, and, it stopped again.
Just sold my porsche for this clk500, not very happy. X-mas tomorrow, and no MB dealership is open for a week.
I have searched this forum and gotten quite a few ideas from other people with this problem.
But what on earth can cause a car engine to stop whilst driving. I have had a flat battery etc. But this was down right dangerous as the engine just cut out and I nearly crashed.
Any ideas would be appreciated. I will take the car to MB for them to assess.
Thanks in advanced.
Steve
