HELP

I have a intermittent leak of my PS unit???.

The spot on the driveway can be as small as a golf ball or as large as a basketball regardless of the time the car has been setting. It can also go days to months with no leak at all then suddenly start again. The fluid level is kept full. No adverse stering effects are noticed.

I realize I will need to clean the area and check the area.

I was wondering if anyone had had a simular problem and a more specific diagnosis????

Better fix it...quick, or you won't have any! Hurry, trace the leak, and then...replace the part.

 

look at your power steering reservoir and look at the base of it where it mounts to the power steering pump-theres a little locking retainer ring and if you can see fluid around that area and dripping onto the A/C compressor then the power steering oring is worn out and needs to be replaced-this is an easy repair if you are mechanically inclined-parts will run you about 20 bucks including powe
steering fluid-recomend checking there i see this all the time in the shop

 

Replaced a 2.00 part (o-ring) between the reservor and the pump itself. Not a hard job, one bolt and a clip. Was a bit messy as all the PS fluid came out. Keep PS fluid off of the belt and you are good to go.
