Default 1995 S-320 rear right window blues

Hello All,

I am a new member on my 2nd Mercedes and I have a question that I need guidence on. Last week there was some hesitation on my rear window to roll up when using the switch @ the drivers seat shift area. After 2-3 tries it rolled up. This morning I rolled the window down all the way and the window is now stuck there. I can hear the motor turn on in the door (while using door or master switch) and the window moves about 1 cm. Could it be a blockage, toasted gearing in the motor or time to give it up to my mechanic and suffer the hit on my checkbook? I am not sure it makes a difference but the windows are double pane.

Thanks, Chad

99 % of the time its the regulator that lifts the window. operate the window with both the front and rear switches to make sure.

I tried the front and rear switch and both times the window engine could be heard trying to move the window. If so, is the regulator (electric motor) toast in most cases?

usually the motor is fine but the regulator fails. it could be a motor if when you hold the window switch and the motor is not running. if you hear the motor running then the motor is probably ok. regulator is the mechanical device that guides the window up and down...it not the motor. you should remove the door panel to inspect it for yourself.

I will remove the panel and inspect the regulator. Thanks for the advice.
