I just purchased a 600 sl. The hard top was just removed . I went to put up soft top and no response,I looked in the manual and followed directions and still no response .... except a ticking noise followed by a thump. Please offer any suggestions

 

Probably needs a new motor for the top, sounds like it is seized. or the bars the top is mounted to are rusted at the joints and need so WD40?

 

got some solutions on that problem posted here before. try searching.

 

This is going to sound strange ,but as soon as my cluster started to work again, my top just worked. The hard top worked with the touch of the switch, and after I moved the hard top ,I tried the switch for the soft top ....... and It worked! Now the only problem is the car beeps when I put the car in drive. I checked the top and it appears to be locked on and secure. I dont know?

 

Ok currently soft top is working fine, the hard top seems to function as well, but when top is on and the car is in drive ...the car makes this beeping sound. With either top on the car makes the noise. I checked the latches and made sure the tops are secure still the car beeps. I hope ITS something simple, I havent even been able to enjoy this car.
