1992 300 SL - Electrical questions
Hi guys - I own an 86 300SDL that is nothing short of "awesome" and we are looking at getting a 92 300 SL but it has some issues. The car only has 87K miles on it, runs good once it gets started but has been sitting for nearly 2 years now. I had to jump it yesterday to test drive it as the battery was completely dead. What I've noticed since I got it running was the following:
- None of the instrument clusters work except for the Temp gauge.
- Headlights work and dash panel lights work.
- Turn signals come on but do not blink, they stay on after the turn has been made.
- Hazards do not work.
- Drove it 1 mile and the car died, coasted to a stop and restarted on first try.
- Windows do not go up or down.
- Power seats work.
- Stereo resets to 87.7 after shutting car off and antenna does not go up.
- Fan does not work on heat or A/C.
- Speedo does not work but odometer does.
- Heated seats button does not work
- Automatic top does not work.
I checked for a bad fuse but could not find one. The guy who owns it has not done any re-wiring behind the dash and said it all just stopped working while it was sitting. Anybody run into this before or have any ideas where to start looking? It almost seems like all of these things are related for the most part and fixing the one thing should fix most of it.
Any information you may have would be a huge help.
Thanks.
