Hello, Please help the newbie!! I have a 92 300TD that has developed the following prob. First some brief history. Temp in car has always been "funny". Temp will climb if sitting in traffic or if outside temp is 100 deg. Engine temp never rises above 90. I figured preveous owner removed T-Stat or stat was stuck open. Never was a big concern. I have had car 1.5 yrs. Do a service every 3500 miles (or so) Have never had to adj coolant level in tank. Last winter the blower mtr quit. I installed a new one. Everbody's happy until yesterday. Wife (primary driver) claims she started the car as usual. The A/C came on for a minute and then the car started blowing hot air. She attempted to turn the Climate control off but it would not stop blowing warm air (on low speed). She said car engine temp was slightly LOWER than normal on ride home (1hr). I took a look this am. Blower will not come on at all. Coolant tank very low. Top rad hose "squishy" (from low coolant). Fuse blown on "auxilary fan". No blower motor operation. PSI tested coolant system. Found holds 13-15lbs for 15-20 mins. Found slight leak @ top hose. Checked oil and found no H2O. My questions R: Is the "auxilary fan" fuse for the raditor fans? Is there a sensor that cuts out the blower motor if the coolant level gets low? Is there a relay for the blower motor? Where is the auxilary H2O pump I've read about? I'm replacing the stat and doing a sevice now. ANY advice would be greatly appriciated.
