Default 1991 420 SEL, smoke from ac vents... HELP??

Good morning fellow Benz enthusiasts... just purchased a 91 420 SEL, 190K miles in remarkably good condition, for my daughter's college car. She'll be safe in it... drove it 200 miles to deliver it to her, no problems at all, good acceleration, good oil pressure, steady temp guage, no issues, but it did idle a bit shaky every now and then, only died once when it sat still in drive, but cranked back up right away..

Last night, she said gray-ish smoke came from the AC vents, then the car stalled. The smoke had a slight burning or musty smell. Being over cautious, she didn't start the car again and had it towed home. The engine didn't over heat, temp guage was fine, oil pressure was good.

Would love any feedback and/or thoughts on this matter... scared I might have bought a lemon but my gut tells me it could be something minor. Thanks in advance for any and all help, and I'm looking forward to sharing with all of you fellow Benz owners!

Sounds like a short in the dash , did you look under the hood for smoke and burnt wires??
