Default 1990 500 sel ignition

My 1990 w126 500sel has been layed up in the garage and hasn't run for over a year. Now I have put the car back on the road and everything seemed fine except the engine seemed to misfire occassionally. Now the engine fails to start completeley. Fuel is present and and the engine turns over ok. I think the fault is with the ignition as I can't seem to achieve a spark.

Any one got any ideas? I have checked a few things and replaced the distributor cap and rotor arm.

if you have fuel pressure but no spark. Try:
-battery disconnect, then, battery on, then check error codes, after ensuring all fuses everywhere are good.
Clear the error codes if possible. If still does not start, new error codes should detect coil(s) bad, etc, orspark plug wires, maybe also need checking. Last resort is the ignition module(s). But, new -fresh/error codes reading should detect that. Let us know what is occurring. thanks.

Does the 126 series give error codes? If so I presume you need a display device to plug into the car?
