Default 1990 260e electric fans

Hi all, can someone tell me if the 2 A\C electric cooling fans also cut in if the A\C is off and the engine is running hot. I have one here that has had a new rad a new thermostat and the fan clutch seems fine but when the engine it under load (up hill) the temp creeps up to just below the red, I have check to see if there is power at the connecter (below the coil), its showing power but the fans are not working even with the A\c on, I think the problem is the fan them self’s have burnt out as they were semi seized, im not to worried about the A\C working its just the overheating problem

Thanks
Steve

i'm not quite sure what you're referring to, but if you mean the auxillary fan which is electric, it only comes on when the car reaches about 105 degrees celcius, and then cools the car to the normal operating temperature.

Hey the 2 a/c fans in frnt of the condensor only go when the a/c system is operating. When u chekd 4 power, was there +ve on both wires. The 2.6 engines sumtimes have a fault with the thermo switch, is the fan on the front of the mtr free spining with a clutch.

They should come on if the car get to 100C or more and also when the AC is on.

Put 12v directly to the plug of the fan. If fan is good, it will run. Doesnt matter which is pos or neg, it will only run backwards if hooked up wrong.
These fans are common to most mercedes back to 75' on the sl's 77' on the 123's or 75' and up to 1990 on the s class's. If they are bad, they are easy to get.

Hi I try to replace my 260E engine type M103 water coolant thermostat to a different setting from the normal (100 to 80 or 85 ) I already get one with 85 setting but when I did replace it the elec. Fan stays working as long as the one I get with 80 setting it will not complete the fan electric circuitry unlike the 100 setting not like the original it cut the circuitry when it reach it the determined temperature and my question if I can find ,where from the same behavior , but in 80 temp. setting
My regards
Basim
