Hello,
My 1988 W126 560SEL will not start. It has a new battery and alternator. When key is turned, engine will turn and make noise, but no spark or no fire. I tried to jumper FPR pins 7 and 8 and I could hear the Fuel Pump working, however car will not start. Is there anything else we can try? The car was running fine yesterday with no problems. Air filter is okay and I don't know what else to do. I am in Lake Charles, LA at the moment, and we have to leave. The car is our only car and we must leave. There are no shelters here and no transportation out. I am using a friends laptop using a generator. I cannot access my email at the moment, but please PM me if you can, I will check back in a while. If you can, please give a call at 337-334-0770. Ask for Jake. I really would appreciate any help for anyone out there. I would be happy to forward a six pack your way.
Thanks Again,
Jake

My 1990 560SEL did this once. The problem was the Fuel Relay. It goes bad after a few years. It is the black box between firewalls near the center. Replace with an OEM quality relay. I got a cheap on once and it began going flakey and failed periodically after 3 years.

Yeah the fuel pump relay in my car (1989 MBZ 560SEL) went out the day before I bought it. The owner at the time replaced it before I bought it though. I think it ran for around $130 or something ordered from the dealership. Easy fix though.
