Default 1987 190e Cosworth 2.6L Steering 'Sloppy"

For some reason at rest or while moving my '87 190e's steering has about 20 degrees of play before the wheels decide to move. Tire pressure and suspension are ok, and my mechanic mentioned something about a steering box problem...can anyone shed any light on this...?

thanks in advance from a new member

cheers

I am new to the forum but have a 190e (2.3) that has the same issue! I am on a search for a cure also. If I come across it I will let the board know what I found. I searched motoralldata for a cure but none found good luck.
