Default 190D trans problems

Good day to all. I bought a 1984 190D that had been sitting for more than a year. The guy could not shut it down because of a vacuum line, so he opened the fuel system. It was pretty easy to get it running, but it didn't have any trans fluid on the stick. I put in some DexII, and it moved and shifted, but it was shifting very hard. Took it for a road test, and when the trans warmed up goo, it started to slip. Checked the fluid again and it showed low, so I added more dex. Started out good but a couple of minutes later, it stated to slip again.I had to limp it back home to try and find out what it is. Bought a filter service kit, and will change the fluid. I also know that i will have to find out what is with the vacuum system.
Something I found very interesting is that when the trans heats up, the fluid level rises over full, but when I check it when it is cooler, the level reads at the full mark.
Hope some can give some insight. Thanks a bunch!!!

ok. thanks for that. How about if I check it after it runs for a while as compared to when it starts to slip?? It seems to be making fluid, but the fluid is not burned or discolored.

Default thanks for the info

I changed out the filter and it is doing much better now. Put a bottle of Trans-X in it . Took it for a road test, and it it working like a charm other than the hard shift, so now it is back to the vacuum system.
