Darn. I feel real pity for you folks in Georgia.
Not only the authorities are afraid to sell you liquid chlorine, but even car readers are with restrictions.

It's $79.88, not $19.99.

Sheesh. You just keep getting dumber and dumber.

I e-mailed PartsAmerica and asked them to explain the discrepancy in the prices for different ZIP codes. Their sales regions are divided by ZIP codes and given to separate companies. Apparently, some of the companies want higher profits.

Here's their reply:

Dear Lugnut,

Thank you for visiting PartsAmerica.com and taking the time to contact us.
Because they are on a different zip code and its through a different company.

If you have any further questions please contact us via e-mail or toll free at 877.808.0698. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Carlos Michel

Don't sweat it. I tried to buy one, but my local Kragens don't have it, Internet doesn't have it, the Customer Support "located" few single readers in 500 miles radius, but I am not going to drive 1 HR to pick it up.
So although price sounds great, I didn't buy it.
Although California is still the best place to live, the readers supplies are not that much better, than in Georgia.

I already have an OBDII scan tool for my two OBDII vehicles (Corvette and Silverado).

I am not planning to need the reader for next few years, but would spend $20 just for the fun of owning one.
If that is too difficult to do, I just past.
The only time I needed reader so far, I had really good one rented (for free) at AutoZone.
The reader not only gave me the code symbol, but description as well.
