in a nutshell, whatever the terminologies used, it really boils down to FILAMENT vs NON-FILAMENT bulbs.

F bulbs usually have gas injection to allow filament to burn hotter (brighter) w/o premature filament failure.
over the years, you've heard marketing hype with gas names halogen, vs xenon vs argon etc. technically,
it is possible to have a xenon/filament bulb....which is not the same as xenon/non-filament/high-intensity-
discharge bulb. it is the latter which is currently the rage...and for good reason. they are kick *** bright.

NF/HID bulbs use high voltage arc technology which is 3x brighter and with lower wattage vs filament bulb.
they also quite a bit longer as they have no filament to burn out, though their ºK does shift over their lifespan.

F bulbs cost roughly $20 to $150 each. but the premium bulbs tend to have shorter life span as the only way
they burn brighter is to burn hotter. burn hotter, and their life span is shortened.

NF bulbs (aka HID) cost approx $100 pair, but you also need high voltage ballast and possibly supplemental
wiring. the car should also be equipped with auto height control to keep the light from shining into other
drivers.

Is it possible to retrofit HID kits etc into cars not equipped with HID? yes...though illegal in the US. yet
people try...and do, with little regard for quality. most just want the pretty blue tinged light and that's all.

all that blather.....bottom line: if you ever drive with HID lighting, odds are you'll never go back to halogen
or xenon based filament lights. there is no substitute.

I think Xenon is best its very much helpful in dark and also we can see it very much clearly in heavy rain. Halogens are good but they lacks brightness that Xenon provides us basically Halogens limits the vision of the driver while raining while Xenon will allow you to get clear image in the devastating situations
