Greetings!

I am the proud owner of a 1984 190D 2.2, and had the unfortunate occurrence of being rear-ended
on the freeway by a hit-&-run driver some months back. My insurance was inadequate and did not
cover the cost to do the body work. I was going 65mph; the truck that hit me was doing between
90-100 mph. I am living proof that miracles do, indeed, occur in life - because the only injury I incurred was a mild whiplash. The accident was also proof that it's true what Mercedes Benz says about their
automobile design: "Engineered like no other car in the world ...", because immediately upon impact,
the car simply shot forward - it did not swerve or sway not one bit - and all of the tail lights remained
working! I was able to drive the car all the way home, and it appears to have suffered no frame damage.

Anyway, I put her in storage; determined to find an affordable means with which to replace the body
parts and put her back on the road. Today, my dream came true - conceivably - that is to say, I found
in a local classified listing, a fully titled 190E that a storage facility is giving away! I called immediately
and found that it was still available! The only catch is that the 190E is a year 1997, and mine is a year
1984 ... big difference, except that it appears from the photograph of the 190E that was included in
their ad as though it might be the same size & shape as mine. Does anyone out there have enough
knowledge of the various years as relating to interchangeability for the body parts? I'm looking to
replace the trunk lid for sure; and possibly the right rear quarter panel. I've included 2 photographs of
my 1984 190D as well as one photograph of the 1997 190E for comparison purposes.

I would appreciate any input that anyone would be inclined to offer. Thank you!
