I currently drive an E36 BMW and am looking to sell it shortly and buy a diesel mercedes. What would you guys suggest to be a great DD Mercedes for a college student on a 9k budget?

I've seen there are a TON of E-class diesel Mercedes for cheep that are older than 1995. I'm looking at stuff from 95 on, I test drove a 1996 E300d about a year ago before I bought my BMW, it was a nice car other than really needing a turbo. Did Mercedes make any other diesels around this time? S-class etc?
