Hello all!
My 2005 W211 CDI does not down shift after long drives in highways (i.e., after coasting at say 110 km for 40 mins or so.) What happens is that when you try to accelerate to make it shift down, the RPM simply does not change, and as a result, the car does not downshift.
I took it last year to the dealer for the same problem, and they apparently uploaded the new software and did something else that I cannot recall. That resolved the issue for a while. Her are my questions:
1. Has this happened to anyone else?
2. If so, what was the cause of it?
Please note that I never get into this problem when the car is driven around the city, no matter for what period (long or short). It seems it only occurs when the car coasts at high speed in highways for a relatively long period.
