Hi all, I am interested in a 84 300d, but looking at the motor, see that the tappet cover is square, as opposed to my 81 where there is the timing chain hoop at the front. Are they the same motor and IP, ot is there a difference. Thanks.

 

The W123 300D, up to '81, are non-turbo while the '82 and newer are turbocharged ( except for the wagon, it received the turbo in 1981 ).
