very little oil to cam in my 1982 300D
I had to replace the cam because it apparently lost lube
3 of the bearing towers were cracked
the cam was badly damaged
I found that the Fram filter had separated and possibly some fragments of plastic? had broken off
after I replaced the cam, bearing towers and rocker arms the car starts and runs smooth but the oil from the pipe above the cam is just dripping oil and I believe there should be a stream of oil to keep everything happy in there
could there be filter material blocking the oil passages? and how can that be cleared?
thanks for any help.

RE: very little oil to cam in my 1982 300D
How was the oil pres. when you restarted. Not a Mercedes mechanic however I've done many JD w/o all the vacuum mess. I would think that oil should be "flying" out all over the motor when you ran it with the valve cover off, if I understand that is what you did. I suspect also that you have some blockage somewhere I might pull the oil pan, take a good look, and possiblely remove the oil pump if you can (again never done that with MB) take as good look as you can, then possiblely use some air pressure to clear oil passages. Good luck and let us know how you came out.

the oil pressure goes right up to 3 bar on the gauge
I've tried blowing air from the head bolt hole in the first cam tower back to the oil filter housing but I am having trouble getting a good seal
today I will try pushing fluid through, probably diesel.
