Default Is this safe to do?

Hi

I saw a video clip in Youtube where someone put a Cummins Turbo in a 300D TurboDiesel, the engine sounds cool but is it safe to do that without damaging the engine?

here's the site:

Default RE: Is this safe to do?

short anwser
HX20 2.8 kg 50-80 hp for diesels less than 4
to
HX82/83 50 kg 500 to 1200 hp for diesels 15-25 L

cummins supply's turbos for diesels with displacements above 3L their smallest turbo the HX20 weighs only 2.8 kg at 176mm by 160mm by 130mm and produces between 50 and 80 hp. the problem you have with using a larger turbo is something called turbo lag. this occurs when it takes time for the motor to output enough exhaust flow to adequately spin the turbo up to an rpm range where it makes boost. you can run a large turbo for large power gains but you will severely limit drive ability at low, around town seneraios. this is why Bugatti runs quad 4 turbos so that each turbo kicks in at a progressively higher rpm in an attempt to limit turbo lag in high boost situations.
