replacing rocker panels
Hi,
I've got a 1984 190D with a lot of rust on the rocker panels. I have replacement ones, but I was looking for some advice on it before I start.
My main question is whether they're welded on or bolted, and if they're welded, whether they're just spot welded or fully welded. I don't see any bolt holes in the new ones I got. I'm a welder/fabricator and I'm buying a MIG welder soon, so it wouldn't be a problem, but I want to know what I'm getting myself into before I start grinding off the undercoating and breaking trim panels.
Anybody done this? Better yet, done it and documented it?
Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

How did the project go?
Sorry to see that there was no follow up to your posted inquiry. I amd facing the same repair and I have been searching or the same info. How did things work out for you? Did you complete the job? Everything work out OK? You mentioned you would be doing this yourself. I just pickd up the car and have not fully assessed my situation. I will likely cut panels out of a donor car. I sure would like to see some postings on this repair.
