I got a 1984 300SD and my outside temp guage is not working the fuse are fine.

(i got a pic if you dont know what am i talking about).

so i guess my car's mileage is not 265,000. I want to know if it is possiable to make that thing work since it has the temp wire?

is what your holding part of the a/c system? where was it attached to or what was it attached to? the dash could have been swapped and the speedometer from the old dash was put in.

Its not part of the a/c its is the outside tempture wire,it was not attached to the original place and aslo the wire seems to lead into the firewall, So i guess this car spposed to have one since it has the hole at the bumber as you can see in picture 3.

I have an 85 300SD. It has an outside temp guage. It works fine, but it's in celsius.....too much math for me. It must have been an option that year.

 

my guess is the unit itself quit working. have you tried to locate parts for it? if you went to a dealer and tried to see a diagram of the system components at the parts desk, it might help your troubleshooting. i cannot find it in the wiring diagrams in my manual. do you have the chassie number ? that my make a search in my manual easier.
