Default My new 91 S?

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum, but I'm a big fan of LandRoverforums. For the past 3 years or so I've been trying to buy my Grandfather's car, and he finally decided to let be buy his Mercedes. I told him I'd come pick it up, but I'm not quite sure what I've got. I just know that the times I've seen it and driven it over the past 10 years, I've really enjoyed it and thought I'd like it. All I really know about the car is that its a:
blue
4 door fullsize sedan
1991 300 diesel
6 cylinder turbo diesel
grey interior
automatic
long wheelbase?

It's been seemingly treated and maintained extremely well as with every car my grandpa owns, he really enjoys wheels.

That is unfortunately all I know from having been in it maybe once a year. Last I remember it had somewhere around 120,000 miles but ran very strong and drove very nicely. Does anyone know about these 91 Turbo Diesels? I can do all the normal maintainance, but I'm new to diesel's and Mercedes, so I'm wondering what I'm in for in terms of maintainance. Anything I should know, and what should I expect before I go and get this car?
Thanks!

Is this the case with all diesels of those years? From what I understand there's a 5 cylinder and a 6 cylinder diesel with the 91's. Is it the 6 cylinder that is the issue? I appreciate the info.

I'll buy it if you don't want it as long as it's in nice condition.

The reason I want it is because it's in great condition and it's a beautiful car. Not to mention the fact that it's like driving your living room around. If I take it there is a big string attached; gramps says I have to be burried in it.
Here's a link Ebay link of the same car from what I can tell. This isn't the car I'm trying to get, but very similar, and somewhere between 120,000 and 130,000 miles. I'll be anxious to see what this one goes for. Anyone else think this this car could be an awful decision? I've got all maintainance records, is there something in the records I should look for that might give me some piece of mind?

great condition and it's a beautiful car
So was my car....until I saw a $5,200 billhalfa year later.

I would personally advise you as ForcedInduction said, avoid that car at all costs. Refer to the Diesels to Buy/Avoid thread
