looking at buying a 300d need help
I am looking at a 1985 300d that I would like to buy. I would like to know what to look at when I go test drive it. Here is the add so you hvae an idea of what I am looking at. This is going to be used for a greasecar and not my daily driver. I just dont want o get stuck dumping a bunch of money into something I should have noticed on the test drive.
"This still glamorous, sweet diesel runs well at 265,000 miles. WILL RUN ON BIO-DIESEL! Great miles per gallon - about 28-35 in the city. Stereo/ CD player works well. New winter and summer tires (both sets with wheels) included. New glow plugs and relay. Brand new battery. Alternator newly replaced. Working sunroof. Engine block heater installed for cold winter mornings. Rear passenger side rusted through in one place. Some leaking in trunk. Brakes/rotors need attention. Window motors on three windows need repair. This car is a flood salvage from 1987, but is still running well with no major electric issues other than the window motors. Glove box door needs new latch. This is a lovable car in need of a little more love. "
Something I can see from the pictures is it is an automatic transmission, how long do those tend to last in these cars?
