just got a 87 190d turbo NOW WHAT?
i just aquired an 87 190d turbo with 133k on the odo.i am third owner and cannot verify milage though.while driving it around it seemed like the trans slipped a little while shifting through the gears.it didnt do that all the time ,i would say about 20 percent of the time.suggestions?
i was thinking of doing a trans flush or maybe looking for a vacuum leak.
any other suggestions for general maitence?.after driving it home on the highway about 100miles i didnt notice it slip
what kind of trans fluid would you gurus recommend?
the owner says that only about 1500 of these came with the turbo?it that about right?
thanks

Hi there
I just got my second one of these cars - I sold the first one - and I believe that only 200 of them were brought into the country in 87, their only year, so we are indeed members of a pretty exclusive club.
I think you should read the posts on the transmission modulator and the Bowden cable adjustment as I suspect that what you have is probably flare as opposed to a slip. I am not quallified to explain this but there is a lot of really good stuff on here and in the other Benz Forums on the subject that will help you to make the determination and hopefully fix it.
All the best
