Yea that sounds like a good deal! Is it expensive to convert it? what does it entail?
I bet the 123 diesels will contimue to appreciate. I love that design. I never did care for my 87 , I prefer the traditional body. I could see these going for over 10k in 7 or 8 years.

I was originally looking for a W140 (92-95 SDL) but they cost more than I have to spend and then there's the "rod-bender" issue. I went to the auction and there was my car and an 84 BMW 524td (turbo diesel) but it had been to hell and back. Dirty interior, headliner falling, rust, leaking oil, torn seats, you name it. It went for $2400! I couldn't believe it. I thought 'just great, the MB will go for over $3k or more'. I couldn't believe it even more when I got it for $1500. What were these morons thinking? Oh well, yea for me!
Now to convert it. Basically you have to secure a WVO fuel source (there are several Asian restaurants near me), prefilter the WVO (let it "settle" for a week or so), fill your tank with it and heat the fuel to lower the viscosity (that is what the kits do). Some people "assemble" their own kits themselves, but in the long run it probably costs them more, as they need to keep modifying/fixing it to get it right. You use the car's cooling system as a heat exchanger to heat the WVO. Fortunately these old MBs are about the easiest to convert and are very tolerant. That is why some people go the "one tank" method, nut I wouldn't. Two tanks mean you start/shutdown (cold engine) on diesel and switch to WVO once the cooling system is up to temp. I plan to use a www.PlantDrive.com kit. It's about $800 plus fuel line and second diesel tank (I'm going to use a plastic type 3 gal. marine tank). I figure total cost less than $1000. The kit will pay for itself in 3 months and the car in 4 more. Then the car PAYS ME to drive it.

That thing is about as cherry as they get!
What oil pressure do you read off idle? Mine is about 2 on idle and PEGGED otherwise, just wondering it that's normal or my gauge is off.
I'm planning on changing the oil/filter this weekend and adjusting valves so that guide WILL come in handy. Also they talk about bumping the wastegate, I'm thinking about it............................
