I have similar marks on my tachometer-less 240D stick. I presume they are max shift points - they seem to fall right where it would be a good idea to shift, or else.

So that's what its for. But why at the 95 MPH Mark It has one dot? dose that means thats the maximum speed u can go or to down shift to 1st gear? I know that is not good for the engine and transmission.

Please reply

Never said I shifted at them - at least all the time That's why I said MAX shift points. They seemed to fall in that range. So I did some checking...

My 85-mph speedomer has the following:

One dot: 23 mph

Two dots: 39 mph

Three dots: 65 mph

I also checked the owner's manual. It states: "Do not exceed maximum speed in the individual gears. See line markings on speedometer."

Since the 3 gear max point is at 65, that means i can travle 65 MPH and below without streessing the engine out and it will give me a bit better gas mile. And can those dots can be used for adjusting auto transmission to shift correctly?

I think the point was that 65 was not to be exceeded in 3rd - that 65 mph is the maximum speed in third. That is not suggesting that is the best thing for fuel economy. If a car has a 7000 rpm redline, that does not mean you should drive at 7000 rpm.
