Default Dropping a fuel tank

I have decided to drop the fuel tank in the 240d. The fuel sending unit wasn't working, so I took it out, disassembled it, and put it back in, and it now works. Here in lies the rub - when I looked into the tank with the unit out, the fresh fuel looked a hazy, darkish green. Now, previous to my ownership, the car had sat for a long time, so I'm thinking I have a corrosion issue, or algae. Since I'm going to bite the bullet, and put in new injectors, I figured I'd just drop the tank, take it to a radiator shop, and have them boil it out. So, to finally get to the question, how hard is it to drop the fuel tank on a '74 240D? I plan to try to do it myself, so is there anything specifically I need to be wary of? What would be a good estimation of the difficulty? I dropped the tank in my old Landcruiser - the "Iron Pig", and man, that was a huge pain.

You may want to check with your radiator shop on what they will use to "boil" it out. Most of them use an acid solution that will leave the inside of your tank rusty if you don't seal it right away. If you have a way to drain the tank yourself, you may want to simply fill it with soap (dawn detergent rocks) and water and then see where you stand after a quick wash.
