Dash lights
Joe, my 77 300D has the same problem. The stock bulbs are dim. I don't remember the replacment number, but you can get a brighter bulb. The downside is that you have to remove the insturment cluster to replace them. I'll look in my old notes and see if I can find the Osram bulb number.

Here are a couple of links about replacment bulbs.
It is not recomended that you use a 5watt bulb because of the damage (melting plastic) caused by the hotter bulb.
I think I am going to look into the LED option ( almost no heat ).

My 1985 300sd has dim dash lights.The dimmer **** works but it seems they should be brighter.Can I somehow clean the switch to make them brighter? Any help appreciated, Joe
