C220 CDI engine governed to 3000rpm
Can anybody enlighten me as to why my 2001 C220 engine revs are governed to a maximum of 3000rpm? This problem began intermittently but has now progressed to being there all the time. I have changed the fuel and air filters and also checked the turbo charger pressure tubes for leaks. There seems to be no other associated problems. Engine starting and fuel consumption are both fine. The engine will not rev beyond 3000 even in neutral and appears to be an engine management restriction. Can anybody help please?

Thanks ForcedInduction, I'm pretty sure it's not in limp home mode as I had that condition when I first bought the car with a flat battery. Limp mode on this model (automatic) keeps the car in second gear until you fix the problem. All the gears select OK and it will eventually reach over 80mph but it just takes forever to get there!!
I read a posting yesterday from Timberfield dated 30 Nov 2007 who had a similar problem and solved it by replacing the switchover valve between the manifold and the aneroid compensator (whatever that might be)on the injection pump. Could this be the problem and if so, what does it look like and where might I find it?
