Buying my first Merc tomorrow.
It's an 1982 SD turbo.
This thing is clean clean clean, was driving very nicely until it was parked 5 yeras ago, and blocked in a warehouse with 20 BMW motorcycles.
I'm picking it up tomorrow.
I assume to do the usuall, drain and replace the fuel and oil..
Any other tips? Anything to look out for?
Thanks for reading,

Top end lubrication will be an issue, and rust inside the engine, unless it was in a controlled atmosphere IS a major factor. Rust forms when the oil drains off, and isn't replaced. Moisture gets there by the humidity in the air, and condensation due to temprature changes.

If rust HAS formed in the top end, really the largest issue is a seize right?
So if there is indeed SOME rust, but it hasn't rusted the piston(s) to the barrel, then it'll probably scrape off and shoot out the exhaust. Is this theory somewhat correct?
