Default Blue smoke

My 83 300SD is burning oil. I had the turbo rebuilt beacuse I was told that was the problem. It did not work. It wont smoke while cold. It will smoke when the temp gets past 80 C
While the car is moving, its haed to see the smoke but at a light you can see lots of it and see even more when you take of from the light. I was told that it could be that one of the cylinders is bad? I do see oil in the turbo.

Thanks for your help,
Jack

Default RE: Blue smoke

you say you still see oil in the turbo? Is this on the compression side or the turbine side? Compression side: I would say that the rebuild on the turbo did not go as well as planned. Turbine side: still could mean that the rebuild to the turbo did not go as well as planned. However, internal cylinder damage is a possibility. I am not a 300SD whiz by any means but, I am certain that the mechanic who removed the turbo and rebuilt it inspected the exhaust manifold for residual oil? If not, considering the situation you may be able to see burnt oil residue between the exhaust manifold flange and the cylinder head without removing any parts. That should be a relatively clear indicator of which cylinder is the culprit.
