I have a 1980 240D with about 340,000 miles. The battery light is always on and not because of not charging. Battery is being charged at 14+ volts and working fine. Also the Brake light glows slightly at the same time. I suspect a bad ground somewhere causing a back circuit through both bulbs. Anyone have any ideas?
